This engaging course, facilitated by an LGBTIQA+ community member and experienced facilitator, uniquely shares Richmind WA’s extensive learnings from over 50 years of mental health expertise, underpinned by an unwavering commitment to LGBTIQA+ inclusion and belonging.

Training Sessions

Session 1: All Stakeholders (5 hours)

This session creates a welcoming space to explore the diversity of the LGBTIQA+ community, learn inclusive language, understand the benefits of allyship, and address the unique challenges and psychosocial risks faced by the LGBTIQA+ population. 

Session 2: Management (3 hours)

This session focuses on creating and maintaining an LGBTIQA+ inclusive practice action plan by working through a brief organisational audit based on the Rainbow Tick Framework for LGBTIQA+ cultural safety. The audit findings will inform an easy-to-implement action plan, including auditing and evaluation processes, to support continuous improvement. 

Learning Outcomes

  • Session 1:

    • Understanding the challenges LGBTIQA+ people face and the impact on mental health and wellbeing 
    • Awareness of LGBTIQA+ identities and the difference between sex, sexuality, and gender diversity 
    • Knowledge of the history of LGBTIQA+ people and the mental health implications of discrimination 
    • Identifying protective factors that promote mental health and wellbeing for LGBTIQA+ people 
    • Recognising the importance of being an ally and how everyone can make a difference in your organisation 
  • Session 2:

    • Understanding the importance and benefits of LGBTIQA+ inclusive practice in the workplace based on the 6 Rainbow Tick Standards 
    • Conducting an inclusive practice audit and creating an effective action plan, including a bank of resources 
    • Implementing continuous improvement mechanisms through reflection and feedback
