2 sessions (Can be delivered in one day or across 1 1/2 days)
This unique course, led by an LGBTIQA+ community member and experienced trainer, offers two sessions. The first session provides your team with foundational knowledge of inclusive language, the diversity of the LGBTIQA+ population, the benefits of allyship, and developing an understanding of the unique challenges faced by the LGBTIQA+ community. The second session, designed for management, focuses on creating and maintaining an LGBTIQA+ inclusive practice action plan, including audit and evaluation processes to ensure a safe and inclusive workplace.

Session 1 – All Team Members (9am-2pm)
This session offers a welcoming space to ask questions and understand LGBTIQA+ identities and terminology. It provides insights into health disparities, including minority stress, and builds empathy by exploring the challenges faced by the LGBTIQA+ community, focusing on the mental health impacts of discrimination and the benefits of allyship. All learnings are designed for immediate application in your workplace.

Session 2 – Management (2-3 hours)
This course demonstrates your long-term commitment to an LGBTQIA+ inclusive workplace. Our facilitator will guide you through a brief organisational audit based on the Rainbow Tick Framework for LGBTIQA+ cultural safety. This step is welcomed by the LGBTIQA+ community, and your willingness to embark on this journey is what truly matters. The audit findings will inform an easy-to-implement action plan, including auditing and evaluation processes, to support continuous improvement.
Learning Outcomes
Participants will gain deeper understanding of
- Importance of LGBTIQ+ inclusive practise in the workplace and what it looks like in the workplace, based on the 6 Rainbow Tick Standards.
- Audit of your organisation’s Inclusive Practice elements and begin developing a plan of action and document library.
- Explore continuous improvement mechanisms and how to reflect and action feedback.
