Hi my name is Beck,
I have a lived experience in living with a mental illness who believes recovery is possible;I feel I am living proof of that, as I am also a mother to two beautiful kids, a secretary of a not-for-profit organisation called AYLAinc (Assisting Your Life to Achieve) .
I am also currently studying a Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Support through Polytechnic West, in which we are learning about mental health issues, trauma etc. and what affects that can have on many individuals within our community.
We are learning how peer support workers can play a vital recovery focused role for individuals living with distress. My practical placement is at the Hearing Voices Network of WA, which I am enjoying immensely.
On completion of the certificate, I hope to gain paid employment as a peer support worker within the mental health industry as I am looking forward to helping others and giving back where I can.
