Hi everyone,
First I’d like to welcome the new HVNWA Peer Support Worker Corina McSwan. Corina has been involved with HVNWA for a long time now in a volunteering capacity. We feel very privileged to have Corina on board, not only does she bring her expertise through lived experience but she is also an experienced HV Group facilitator.
Well we are pleased to advise that the Fremantle HV Group and Fremantle group now up and running the Fremantle group is held weekly on Wednesdays 2pm – 4pm at Victoria Hall, 179 High Street Fremantle and the Rockingham group is held weekly on Mondays 1pm – 3pm at PaRK Service, 4/3 Robinson Place, Rockingham. We are also hoping to soon allow members of the community attend the Ngulla Mia group which has so far only been open to Ngulla Mia residents.
Recently the network was offered an exciting opportunity to have two TV Commercials created by a professional media organisation by the name of Rare.
The ads were recorded, edited and feedback was given by several individuals including voice hearers and experts by profession and by experience from inside and outside of Richmond Fellowship of WA until we were happy with the final result. We were thrilled to have the advertisements picked up by Channel 7 and 7 Mate and the ads went to air between the 15th February and 28th February.
In March the HVNWA team spent the day at the ‘Music to open your minds’ event in Fremantle joining various other organisations in a bid to raise awareness around Mental Health and wellbeing, we took our MP3 players containing the voices audio simulation and again witnessed how powerful the experience of the exercise is amongst the many individuals who took part.
Well that’s all from me for this edition, as always if you would like any information regarding anything to do with peer support, groups, training or general any information about the network please feel free to give us a call groups and one on: 9350 8800
Warm regards,
Jacqui Day
