“An international movement suggests it’s better to talk with and challenge these voices, rather than try and suppress them” as Katie Silver wrote earlier in the month basing her article based around the ‘All in the Mind’ program.
The article presents the views of Clinical Psychologist Dr Rufus May and Therapist Will Hall. May and Hall are ‘experts by expertise’ and ‘experts by experience’; they are part of the population that hears voices.
Both May and Hall suggest that voice hearers should engage with their voices. Hall explains that it can be important to separate negative and positive voices and react to them differently.
For instance, he suggests voice hearers should talk to and challenge voices using a method he entitles “Voice Dialogue”.
